Dental Surgery! Yippee!

Thanks to wearing braces 15 years ago, I had to endure a little surgery today at the Dental College, AT Still Dental School in Mesa. They took a connective tissue graft from my hard palate, and placed it on the lower gum area that had eroded due to forces from previous braces. Got there at 8:30AM, and just now finishing at 1:30PM! Kind of bummed that my third year resident moved away, and now I have a first year resident fresh out of dental school. Surgeon was great- Dr. Feinberg I really like how they take their time and let every student, resident... anyone who wants to, watch the procedure, and the surgeon explains every little move he is making and the reasoning behind placing each little suture where he did. Very important in grafting. The students and residents seemed to be much more comfortable asking questions as compared to OSU Vet School where the students were just accessories and pay LOTS of money just to stand in the corner and hold an instrument while the nasty surgeon throws things around the room. Everyone was afraid to even say anything, let alone ask a potentially stupid question. Hopefully that has changed at OSU over the years, but probably not. Today certainly put a big dent in my dental implant savings account... but it needed to be done. I don't know if I'll ever be able to get the silly implants. Every time I almost have enough, something else has to be done that eats up the account. Whew, I would like to take a "pain killer" right now and go to bed, but have to pick Jazzy up from school. Hopefully she will let me sleep when we get home! Then... tomorrow I get to call to have my windshield replaced *again*! It seems to happen once or twice a year. Big rock flying thru the air on the way to the dental school picked MY windshield to hit!
