Poor teacher....

Last night, Jasmine asked me if it is common for someone to "turn white" when they vomit. I explained to her about bile coming from the small intestine, retching, then people turning green or yellow from the bile. Then we talked about when someone is feeling faint, they might turn white. I asked her why she asked me that..."No reason" was the answer. So, this week the school has been having AZ Merit testing- which is the stupid state testing that they do twice a year. Apparently, one kid in the class was on his way to the trash can to vomit, when he ran into the teacher and vomited all over the place. Mrs. Swane reacts violently to vomit, so she was retching, and had to have another teacher come in and clean it up. Then, Mrs. Swane's little girl in kindergarten was vomiting off and on all week, so she had to deal with vomit again. Next, another kid came to school with the flu and gave both of the teachers the flu. Then today, one Jasmine's friends had just started the AzMerit test when she literally started choking on a mint. She couldn't breathe, couldn't speak (a very bad sign) and was collapsing. Mrs. Swane was screaming for help, and apparently Addisyn, the little girl was able to dislodge the mint. Addisyn's mother, who is the pre-school teacher- came running in hysterically when she found out what happened. Even though Addisyn was fine by the time her mom got there, the mom was hysterical and crying. All of this was going on when the kids were supposed to be taking their state testing:(. Luckily, all of the teachers had just done their yearly CPR class on April 1st, so everything was fresh in their mind. When I picked up Jasmine from school today, Mrs. Swane looked SO stressed. Her hair was a mess. She was not smiling as usual, and she was on the way to her own doctor for the flu:(( I'm guessing she isn't going to be at school tomorrow after all of the stress and her own symptoms. I would not enjoy being a teacher!!!
