Whatchamacallit Expedition...

I got a notice in Jasmine's backpack on Friday for a "weekend project".... like I need more projects in my life. Anyway, they are supposed to design a Whatchamacallit that has some specific purpose, then make it out of "household objects" like milk cartons, TP rolls, stuff like that. On Friday night when we were driving home from skating, I asked Jasmine what she wanted to make for her Whatchamacallit. She said she wanted to make a vending machine that answers every math problem that you don't know! So... today we covered a shoe box with pink paper... because "it has to be pink". Then we put numbers all over it, as well as some stickers, then I kind of designed the "floor". It was fun and turned out kind of cute. Later this week, all of the "Whatchamacallits" will be in a "Invention Expedition".

Thanks Miss Wachtel and all of the other kindergarten teachers .... because I really needed something else to do this weekend! (eye roll).

Eggstravaganza....

Today was the Eggstravaganza at Tumbleweed Recreation Center. Parents were not allowed in the first hour when the kids made Easter Baskets and a little bunny craft. Then we all went outside in the 95 degree weather to meet the Easter Bunny and collect some eggs filled with candy and little toys:)
It was much better than the huge Easter egg hunts with hundreds of aggressive people. Poor Easter Bunny in that thick wool costume!

First few minutes in class.

Easter Eggs....

Tonight, Jazzy colored some eggs. She made one for Miss Wachtel, one for Mrs. N. (Nukulovic) , and two for Julia... the little girl next door.... one of which was an egg with "chicken pox"...!!! Uh oh.

Food Poisoning?

About 7-8 hours after eating "dinner"... basically just some veggies... I had a wonderful 10-12 hours of continuous retching, vomiting... and lots of other things too graphic to describe. Poor Jazzy had to get herself ready for school by herself on Monday morning... and she did a pretty good job. I got her to school, and stopped by the local 24 hour "Acute Care" clinic for some IV fluids. Couldn't even keep down one little drop of water and was SO thirsty. Slept all day yesterday without even waking up until it was time to pick Jazzy up from school. That was heaven since I was so weak and dehydrated that I couldn't even walk. The homeopathic remedies that I took didn't work, or maybe just shortened the process... or maybe I just chose the wrong one(s). After waking up yesterday, I was craving salt SO much that I drank 1/2 cup of organic chicken broth with 1/2 tsp of Himalayan sea salt in it. Yum... hit the spot! Doing a little better today, went to the gym and did really light weights for about 1/2 hour. Two good things: I won't have to work out my abdominal muscles for a few days since they feel like minced meat from retching so much, plus I lost 5 #... which I am sure will come right back on. Glad this doesn't happen very often. Last time I remember was some time in the 80's when I was a "relief vet" for a guy up in Flagstaff. His wife made me dinner, and I couldn't even work in the clinic for 2 days:) Jazzy said "How's come Grandma can't take me to school like the other kids"? Well, Grandma can't fly all the way from Ohio just to take you to school.
Great way to start the week!

Class book...

Each class at Dobson Academy published their own book. Each person in Miss Wachtel's class wrote about their favorite part of the kindergarten year. Of course, Jasmine's favorite part was "recess and playing outside with friends". The picture she drew is of a very large canvas/tent like structure outside which is the school lunchroom.... except on really hot days. Pretty handy.... they just hose everything down for the next day. Her favorite part is playing with her friends under that structure. We definitely have some work to do on the handwriting:)

Miss Wachtel told me that next year she will be going to the newly built "sister school" of Dobson Academy-- the new Val Vista Academy in Gilbert. We will miss seeing her around the school:(

New Jazzy quote....

Just now we were driving to dance lessons. KTAR talk radio station was talking briefly about teenager's high school business projects teaching them to "think outside of the box". Somehow that morphed to "thinking outside of the box" when asking someone to the prom. A high school kid apparently tweeted Lady Gaga, and a bunch of other celebrities- some of whom were "porn stars" asking them to come to his prom. When they said "porn star" a couple of times, Jasmine said...."Mom, was I a "born star""? While keeping a straight face I said "Yes, sweetheart.... you were born a star, and always will be"! Then I tried to hide my face and laugh hysterically..:)
