School Dance.....

Tonight is the all school "Decades Dance". Everyone can dress up from any decade they would like. They are dancing, playing games, and making crafts. I wanted Jazzy to wear her Nancy Sinatra outfit, but she wanted to wear the poodle skirt. Jazzy with her teacher Miss Ferdowsian. First smile I have ever seen!

This looks like fun! Especially in that first photo we can tell that Jasmine is proud of her cute poodle skirt and loves it.

Her school dance reminds me of your/Dan's/my "Fifties Day" back in school. Remember? We didn't have to do homework. We danced to 1950s rock and heard teachers' speeches on US 1950s history. Like most of the guys, Dan didn't want to dress up in 1950s attire, but he sure loved a day without tests and school lessons. He was all smiles and laughter and up to his usual funny pranks that day. Great memories.

I sent you and Jasmine something which should arrive in the mail today (Saturday). Maybe you'll want to hold her part of it back until her birthday on Oct. 1??

Tell your mom "hi" and I'm glad to hear Tom is home from the hospital. When I was at Mt. Carmel East in 2011, the nurses and doctors there treated me grandly. Even so, I literally counted the minutes on the clock until I could be released. There's no place like home sweet home, especially when you're sick and want your own bed.

...unless, of course, a person is like your brother. Danny could sleep anywhere. In the woods. In a tent. His head down on his desk in elementary school. Beneath the football bleachers. On my mom's brick patio. In the barn...in a car, by the pond...in his buddy Lacey the janitor's broom closet at school. I still remember Dan in 4th grade, grabbing one of his many naps behind the old school stage during our gym class. "Wake me up before the teacher comes," he used to say, even if it was just a 10-15 minute "cat nap."

Wow- you have so many memories of him:) I don't remember the 50's day at school. I must have taken the day off to be with my horse and dog:)) This was an "all decades dance", but many of the girls are in ice skating and were in the "Skating thru the Decades" show last April. Most of them wore their poodle skirts:) It was kind of a carnival atmosphere with candy and little prizes and booths everywhere. The music was mostly 50's- present when I was there for a few minutes. I feel sorry for the janitors and cleaning people who have to clean up that mess!!
