Day 2 Fiesta Skate 2013.....

Got off school even earlier today. Waiting to go on the ice. Didn't skate well today at all. On the one hand, Jasmine's level for her Dramatic Program was cancelled due to not enough entries, so she skated against kids more advanced than her. On the other hand, she didn't skate well at all and got 4th place. She was happy... didn't care at all. She wanted the ribbon to be pink..of course. Then wanted to go pose for the photos:))! A wall in Jasmine's room. She has a few more medals somewhere in a drawer.

Day 1 of Fiesta Competition.....

Jasmine was very glad to get off school early. Her first class yesterday was Artistic Light Basic 2-4. Jaime and Jazzy. With her friends/competitors Adeline and Makayla. First place. I'll have better photos of the performance in a few days. Program and scorecard:

"They Picked Me"....

We had a fun day today. Valley Youth Theater performed a musical called "They Chose Me" about adoption. They covered many topics on adoption from proper terminology, famous adopted people such as Halle Barry, Bill Clinton, Nancy Reagan, as well as "gay parents", various reasons why children are adopted, and how to deal with looking different from other family members. Not a good photo. Jazzy and some other kids talking with the Orchestra Director at the intermission. Pictures were not allowed during the performance, but some of the performers were available after the show. The little girl on the left played "Mei Ling Moskowitz", a Chinese girl adopted by Jewish parents. She sang a song "I'm proud to be a Chinese Jew":)) They were all great singers and performers. On a side note, the theater is located across the street from the very first hotel built in Phoenix, called Westward Ho. It was built in 1927 and was frequented by Teddy Roosevelt. In 1949, an ugly tower was added onto the top of the hotel. It was the first TV tower in Phoenix. The building has not been used as a hotel since 1960 when it was converted into an office complex. Since 1980, it has been a homeless shelter!! Builders and developers want to tear it down, or at least remove the ugly tower, but that notion caused a huge uproar in Phoenix since it is considered a "historical building". It certainly is not a pretty building though. Fun day. We weren't too creative in our dining choices when we ate at Olive Garden on the way home:)

Fiesta Recital...

Friday night "recital"/dress rehearsal for the big Fiesta Skate competition this week. Goofing around with "boyfriend" (one of many) Grant Owens. Everyone says that Jazzy and Grant will be pairs skaters someday:) . Goofing around with Jaime and another student. Annie going on the ice next.

Easter....

Jasmine got me up at 4AM!! I'm used to getting up at 5 AM, but not 4AM! She would not let me go back to sleep, so we went ahead and got up, ran all over the house collecting eggs, then into the living room for baskets left by the Easter bunny and Grandma/Grandpa. We have more candy than we know what to do with. Favorite hit of the day- bubbles of course, but also a little bunny that can be brushed. When he is petted or brushed, he makes little bunny noises and hops around:) Ready to go out for the day!

Makuto's Island Birthday....

Amber Thomas's birthday party was today at Makuto's Island, a big indoor jungle with ropes, tunnels, bridges in every square inch of the place. It is so huge, that you can go in there with your child and not see them again for hours. The place was packed- the day before Easter!! with about 10 birthday parties going on simultaneously. They said that they have about 80-90 birthday parties per week!! Lots of pizza, cake, presents, and fun with her old Dobson Academy classmates. Jazzy and Amber. This party lasted for hours and hours. Luckily, the car wash where I have pre-paid car washes is right across the street. There was a long long line, which was perfectly fine with me. I would rather be sitting in my car listening to music, rather than at this "jungle" with screaming in my ear. Any other time, I would be annoyed with the long line, but I was just chillin out and taking my time before going back to the chaos:)
