Craft class

The other day, Jazzy and I went to a Parks and Recreation craft class. We made pumpkins out of Mason lids and tape:)

Jr Zookeeper

For three weeks in August, Jasmine participated in the Red River Zoo Jr. Zookeeper Program. They were required to be on time, wear a uniform, clean cages and enclosures, help with the animals and when they get to Tier 3- interact with the public. She really loved it, and wants to go back next year. Here are some of the participants: Interacting with "Noodle", the sand snake. At the "edu-cart" where guests can pull a question from the box and Jr. Zookeepers answer it.

Busy week....

Sewing class and Science Class a Maplewood Activity Center, Fargo Parks and Recreation. I'm glad that Jasmine somewhat learned from someone else how to use a sewing machine because I certainly could not have taught her. I have very bad memories of "sewing". A cute beach bag, lanyard, keychain and pencil bag made by Jasmine. Doing the age-old experiment of placing an Alka Seltzer tablet in water, shaking it, and watching it explode:) Setting off a bottle rocket with instructor "Myrna" who taught both the sewing and the science class. There were 30 kids in the Science Class. Each child received their own lab coat to take home:)

Shingobee

Girl Scout Camp at Shingobee Timbers in Walker, MN for the 3rd year in a row. No photos posted to their Facebook page this year:( Arriving at Shingobee. Just got home. Jasmine was very proud when she said..."I didn't brush my hair one time" :( ugh. She also didn't take a shower or brush her teeth the whole week. If she has a cavity as a result, she has been warned that she will be the one paying for it. She did however finally take the Polar Plunge for the first time ever!Oh yes, they informed me when I picked her up that they "forgot" to give Jasmine her medications for two days. How does a "nurse" forget to give a kid their medication for two days. There were only 40 kids at the camp:( We are dealing with the repercussions of that now.

mini trip...

Jazzy got to go on a little mini trip for a few days with her friend Myah, Myah's mom Michele, and Michele's sister Nicole. Also in attendance was Myah's baby brother coming in a few months. They went to Thumper Pond - a really nice resort in Ottertail, MN. I want to go just because it's in a place called Ottertail!!! Thumper Pond is a really nice resort with a water park. I don't have any photos of them.... but I heard it's very nice!

MSU College for Kids

Minnesota State University has summer classes for kids - "College for Kids". Jasmine took "Soap Making" and "Polymer Clay Jewelry Making" At first, I was kind of disappointed in the soap making class. I thought they were actually going to learn how soap is made, but then I realized that would entail using caustic substances- so I can see why they didn't actually learn how to make soap. In the class, they used huge slabs of "craft soap"- glycerin and white soap- melted it down, colored it, then put it into molds. Jasmine has about 70 soaps now:) She made a large 6" by 4" slab of soap for her friend Myah. Inside is one of the little toys that Myah left at our house. Myah is going to be disappointed after using all of that soap- only to find one of her old toys inside:) Jasmine's jewelry creations- donut earrings, a charm bracelet with a chocolate bar, apple, panda, and a rose. butterfly necklace, rose necklace and two rings. They had a little jewelry/art show at the end of the class!

Camp Cormorant Horsemanship ....

I guess she had fun. She wouldn't tell me much about it, and the website didn't have many photos in general, let alone with Jasmine in them. She didn't get money to spend in the store because just prior to leaving for camp, she tried to steal 40.00 from my purse, plus a bag of candy. I purchased 4 months worth of non- perishable groceries to have on hand after my surgery. She found the small candy stash and tried to stuff it in her suitcase. I, of course, found it.... and took away the 40.00 I had given her for the store...plus the 40.00 she stole. She was not able to buy a souvenir or candy from the store this year. Too bad... so sad!
