Answers to yesterdays questions!

What food is associated with your name? Jasmine... Jelly Bean. I am guessing that they picked a food that started with the same letter/sound of their name so that other people could remember their name. What did you do in charades? I was a gorilla:) How long did it take for your group to unravel? 3 minutes! I kind of doubt it. It's a exercise where usually big groups of 50-100 people who don't know one another get balled up into a spiral - arm in arm. Then, everyone has to move simultaneously in a coordinated way to unravel the spiral. You end up being eye to eye with just about everyone in the group for 1/2 a second or so while unravelling the spiral. What did you make with tissue? a rocket. Maybe I will get to see it today. What was your product? A piece of candy... that you dissolve in the washing machine to get the clothes clean??? Huh? Did anyone buy it? No:))

Drama Camp this week....

This week is "drama camp" taught by Mrs. Dugan at Bright Beginnings School. I asked Jasmine what she did today: I don't remember. Did you do a little play? I don't think so. Did you have fun? Yes... So, what did you do? I don't know. I just received this photo with a list of questions I should have asked;) What is your product? What did you make with the tissue paper? How long did it take for your team to unravel? What did you do in charades? What was the food that you associated with your name? I will anxiously await the answer to this one. Probably.. candy or ice cream:) Hopefully, we will find out some answers tomorrow!

Jazzy's first skating competition.....

Just a little fun competition based on "compulsories" from the various US Skating levels. Jasmine is in Basic 4 Class right now.... but the competitors enter the competition one to two levels below the category they are already learning in their weekly classes. So, Jasmine is competing in Basic 2 since she knows those moves pretty well- usually:). Last night they worked on keeping her head up instead of looking down at her feet, as well as holding the glides and backward swizzles. She did really well, looked up most of the time... but rushed thru it. She didn't hold the one legged glides long at all. She got 2nd place... out of four girls in her category. Pretty good:). Then, I told her that since she did such a great job... she could pick any restaurant she wanted to go to for lunch. Of course she chose Sage Vietnamese restaurant:) I should have known! I videoed her on the ice... but didn't take photos.
Watching the other girls, waiting to go on the ice.
Done with the competition.
Second place!
At the restaurant eating her favorite "Meatball Pho".

Coaching.....

Last night, Jasmine had a special coaching session with Jaime Kalnicky...one of the competition coaches. I wanted to make sure she knew what she was supposed to do for the skating competition- and make it a fun/successful experience. At $1.00 per minute, I could only afford 15 minutes or so... but even that really helped. Make note- here is how the one legged forward glide is supposed to look:)!

Karate Camp....

Jazzy spent the week at karate camp. I was there at different times during each day, and never saw them do any karate except on Memorial Day! The placed was packed with little kids, pizza and drinks spilled everywhere today... mass confusion (to me anyway). I am sure THEY were having fun. They saw "Happy Feet" at Harkin's Theater yesterday, Peter Piper Pizza trip one day, Water and Ice a few doors down *every* day- a place to get ice cream/candy/shakes/water and ice. Then... the big day.. today they went to Silver Lining Hunt Club to ride in the morning. It was 112 degrees today, so they returned by 10AM..... I am told. Jasmine said.."I got to ride a horse all by myself"... (I kind of doubt it:)... "and his name was King". I didn't get to go, but I am hoping they will forward some photos to me! They even each received little yellow camp tee shirts with a Japanese karate guy on the front:)
Happy First Week off School!

Birthday Party Day.....

At "On the Border" restaurant celebrating Grandma's birthday.....
Girl's club in the backyard, putting on "makeup".....

Grandma's Birthday Party.....

Today was Grandma's 77th Birthday party. We did everything kind of backwards. First we gave her the gifts...the customary Kohl's gift card, an Origami Owl customized necklace, a beaded necklace made by Jazzy, and some other stuff from Grandpa that we never saw. Then... we sang Happy Birthday and had cupcakes frosted by Jasmine. Then later out to lunch. A little backwards... but we had alot of fun...
Grandpa showing Jazzy the proper way to put icing on the cupcakes:)
