Tomorrow is Jazzy's last day of summer school already! Those poor teachers:). Today was a "parent-teacher conference" day. The student teachers had never done a parent teacher conference before:) Mr. Adler from Cleveland, OH, is the math teacher. He's probably around 20 yrs old and seemed to handle the kids pretty well. The reading teacher, Mr. Lyman...probably around 22 yrs old, said to me today "Well, it's been a little different than we anticipated ... our first time teaching":))) He was referring to the wildness of the kids, I believe. Being so young and never having taught school before, I think they may have thought that the kids would just sit there all day and listen. Ha, ha, ha.:) I guess he's learning very quickly that is not the case:))) When I walked in the room at the end of the day, there were paper airplanes flying, toys everywhere, screaming and yelling... wow. I couldn't even hear myself think. It IS summer school...:)... but it was really out of control. I received a packet of Jasmine's work and the evaluations showing that she moved up a couple of notches in both reading and math, so it was worth it. After school, we went to our first piano lesson with our new teacher, Carolyn Merrill. My photo taking capabilities with my phone continues to decline. Back to practicing piano every day. Ugghh.... :)

Arizona dress fitting:)

Yesterday morning at skating, Sheri Minzenmeyer stopped by the rink for a "dress fitting". This is Jasmine's dress for National American Miss where she will be singing "I Love You, Arizona". Just have to put the star on the front and add accessories!

"An Affair to Remember"

Three days of dress rehearsal and then the dance recital last night! The ballet troupe of all ages performed "West Side Story", and the general theme was "An Affair to Remember". No photos allowed during the performance, so the few I did get were during the rehearsal and not very good. On top of that, I spilled water on my camera, so it is kaput. I'm going to let it dry for a couple of days and see what happens:( Bad timing. So, no dance for 6 weeks! Yippee! "I Feel Pretty" in West Side Story. "I Have a Dream" from Tangled:) Finale! We had a lot of fun, but the last three days were pretty intense!

Dental visit the other day....

Jazzy had to have two teeth pulled! Her adult teeth are trying to come in, and the deciduous teeth wouldn't fall out causing the adult teeth to come in crooked. Plus, her mouth is so small and the teeth are so big- there's just not enough room. Then we had some sealants put on the new adult molars. They use light sedation to do the procedure. Braces eventually for maybe just one year:( Not looking forward to the expense and the whining:( Just taking a little nap! Dr. Abdoll pulling the teeth. They keep the room dark with the Disney movie running to either induce sleep or attention to the movie, I suppose. Waking up. She actually did fall asleep:)

Our new wheels!

Well, my car is getting to be a very old lady and I don't trust her to hobble long distances. We haven't been able to drive up to Flagstaff or Payson this summer because I just don't trust the car. Our friends- Caroline, Anais and Elise Van der Voorn are moving back to Holland due to a divorce:(, and they needed to sell their Nissan Xterra. I wasn't really looking for a vehicle right away, but the price was right. I don't like that it gets crappy gas mileage since I am so used to getting 35 mpg with my little car, but I think I made the right decision to have this "back-up mobile" until my little car with 150,000 miles on it dies some day! Jasmine, Elise and Anais at Starbucks:) Caroline would not get in the photo!

First day of pre- 3rd grade summer school...

Five weeks of review of second grade plus a little head start on 3rd grade. Every year, there are a group of college students who need to do their teaching internships. The school is free, except for the so-called "food", since the student teachers don't get paid. It's a win-win situation. Jasmine is in class with a couple of girls from her first grade class... Angel and Megan. Angel and Jasmine. From now on, every time she makes a face in a photo, I'm going to post it so that someday she can look at it and see how silly she looks.
