Shane- the school bear....

Shane the Bear came home with us this week. Apparently, he spends a week with each child in the class, then he (as in me) writes a journal about what we did this week. Shane went to tap/ballet lessons, piano lessons, Vision Therapy, ice skating, and a Chandler Easter festival today. At ice skating, the teacher told me that Jasmine could not be promoted to Snowplow Sam 3 with the other kids because she was not paying attention. So, when the teacher tells them to do something, Jasmine just goes off and does something else on her own. Jasmine was informed that if I hear that again starting next week, we will not be going to an Asian restaurant like we do almost every Friday night after ice skating:(

Then today we went to an Easter Festival with literally thousands of other people. We had sparkly strands put in our hair, played games, saw Mr. Brad our karate instructor giving demonstrations, made some Easter crafts, then went to an Easter Egg hunt where we waited in line in the hot sun for 45 minutes - then were told that because of the number of people there, we could only get 4 eggs. It was still fun.

Shane met a new girlfriend this week too.... Jasmine's Build a Bear who is nameless.

Easter Party at pre-school.....

We had our big Easter party at school today. The kids had previously made little Easter baskets out of plastic milk cartons. Of course, Jasmine's pictures/rabbits/anything she draws, always have pink glasses on. (She gets her pink glasses back tomorrow after having the lenses changed. She does tend to "cheat" with the smaller wire glasses- which is why the optometrist wants her to wear the pink glasses a bit longer).

The class made strawberry short cake. Very easy- even I could do it. Made with the little short cakes, whipped cream and strawberries. The Easter baskets were filled with little plastic eggs with all kinds of things in them- stickers, candy, pennies, erasers, etc- brought in by several of the parents. Jasmine filled all of her little eggs that we brought in with candy and stickers. One of the boys in the class, Jaxon, fell from a fence and broke his leg.. so we made him some extra eggs. Apparently, he has a internal fixation device and is in a wheelchair:(. He will be back in school next week until he has the pin removed.

The class also has little chicks which were supposed to have hatched from eggs that they incubated in the playroom. Apparently, the eggs didn't hatch.... so the teacher secretly purchased little chicks from a farmer who is going to take the chicks back in a week or so. The kids still think the eggs hatched overnight from the eggs they incubated.

Dr. Jasmine Stolz

Yesterday, I had a small lesion cauterized on my leg. Dr. Jasmine pulled a chair up right next to the dermatology resident who was doing the procedure. She stuck her head right in his line of vision so she could really see what he was doing:). I heard him chuckling about it. Then, the nurse handed Jasmine the bandage to hold until the Dr. was ready for it:) Then they both put the bandage on my leg:) Pretty funny. Wish I would have had my camera even though I probably couldn't have taken the photo since I was laying face down!
Dr. Jasmine always walks around the house with her "chart notes" and asks me "How can I help you today?" When I give her my medical history, she whips out her cookie monster syringe, and the affected area gets a "shot".

last Drama class for awhile.....

Monday night... Jazzy's drama class had skits prepared for the parents to watch. One was with four kids driving a "car", picking up someone/something. Jasmine, of course, was a dog. It kind of goes along with the fact that she says the same thing to everyone she meets....."I have a dog. Her name is Jessie. She is a Chihuahua":) Everyone in the world knows that Jasmine has a dog named Jessie who is a Chihuahua.

The second skit was called "Goats in the Chili Patch". Jasmine was a rooster who tried to get the goats out of the chili patch unsuccessfully. Then later in the skit, she was one of the 4 ants who did get the goats out by biting them on the nose.

Photos didn't turn out because they were all "in motion"....

Rainy Saturday....

Almost unheard of cool and rainy day in April. I'm not too concerned since it will be in the 90's again this coming week. Went to Environmental Education Center for "Meet the Creature Day" again. We wouldn't have signed up for it if we would have known that most of the animals would be at the Dayspring field trip last week. Oh well. There were a couple of new animals.... a kind of rare albino hairless female Guinea PIg. Can't remember her name:(. A 5 day old South American Paca-- a "amphibious rodent". Kind of looks like a spotted rat.... as well as Quinn the Patagonian Cavy, Raspberry the iguana, all the other guinea pigs, chickens, and a pot bellied pig.

Then off to Hip Hop Class with Stacey J. After meeting Stacey J, Jazzy now calls me "Mommy J":))

Dayspring Pre-School field trip.....

Morning and afternoon 4's classes at Dayspring went to the Gilbert Riparian Preserve. Lived here almost 30 years and have never heard of it. It is a nice little park with ponds with ducks, lots of wildflowers, hummingbirds, butterflies, hiking trails, "dino dig", and playground.

We had different "stations" to go to. First we went to Linda's station.... the same lady from Environmental Education Center with the animals. Quinn the Patagonian Cavy was there, Harvey the Flemish Giant bunny... who is still a "baby". Apparently, they get up to 40 #. Raspberry the iguana and a little goat were also there. In her own little wagon, was an obese, elderly and blind opossum. The kids pulled her around the park in her wagon for her "walk".

After the hike to feed the duck and look at wildflowers, we did the "dino dig" and found vertebrae and hip bones:)
The kids also learned about various types of dinosaurs. Jasmine said, "Do you think that Dr. Vince likes T. Rex"?

As usual, the weatherman was wrong. It supposedly was going to rain, but I should have known better to believe that after living here for so many years. It was extremely hot and uncomfortable in the morning, then some black clouds rolled in as we were leaving, but it never did rain.

Eye Dr. Appointment....

At Dr. deSimone's office today. Vision is very slowly improving, but improvement is tapering off. No improvement in stereoscopic "depth perception"- which is typical for amblyopia. Probably will still need corrective surgery for strabismus someday.
